Have you heard about the health benefits of coconut oil? I recently started learning about coconut oil, and have been amazed at the health giving properties of this wonder food!
What kind of coconut oil should you buy?
Before we talk about the benefits, you should be aware that there is a big difference between refined coconut oil, and virgin coconut oil. The refined oil is not only bland, but has most of its nutritional value stripped away. If you decide to try coconut oil, look for unrefined, virgin, extra virgin, or cold pressed oil. Ideally, try to buy organic, as well. It tastes wonderful, and has all kinds of health benefits.
So what are the health benefits of coconut oil? Researchers claim that regular consumption of this oil can lower cholesterol, regulate thyroid function, aid in weight loss, help prevent infections, boost energy, provide quick energy, prevent or lessen the effects of Alzheimer’s, and aid in skin and hair health and repair. This is only a partial list of all the potential benefits!!
How can consuming coconut oil help improve your sensitive skin?
- Coconut oil is a good source of omega fatty acids. Omega fatty acids are critical to creating healthy skin.
- Coconut oil is an excellent source of Lauric acid, which is extremely helpful in fighting bacteria and viruses. Often, sensitive skin is the result of too much yeast in the body. Increasing your consumption of Lauric acid can help regulate yeast, and in turn, ease sensitive skin.
- Coconut oil is an antioxidant and an immunity booster. What this means, is that consuming it may strengthen the skin to be better prepared to withstand irritants, without becoming reactive.
- Coconut oil is good for your overall health. The better your health, the better the condition of your skin!
How much should you consume, and how to eat it?
Researchers say the ideal amount for an adult to consume is 3 to 4 tablespoons a day. Try to take it about 3 times a day, with meals. If you don’t enjoy eating it by itself, try mixing it with other foods. Try spreading it on your toast, instead of butter. You could blend it into a smoothie. Put it over pasta, instead of butter or oil, or mix it in with your pasta sauce. Use your creativity – the options are endless!
Where can you buy virgin coconut oil?
Organic virgin coconut oil can be found in many health food stores. If you can’t find it in your area, you can buy it online at organicvirgincoconutoil.com.

Thanks for the info! I’ve been amazed at all the health benefits to coconut oil – yet it’s still considered unhealthy by most people. I consider myself to be quite educated about natural food, but I didn’t become aware of coconut oil until about 6 months ago. Thanks for helping spread the word!
I have never heard of this, but I would certainly like to give it a go. It can be very annoying when you have sensitive skin!
I am not sure how you can eat coconut oil it seems a bit hard to be honest, I would have thought you could drink it ????
True story that eating coconut oi can improved your sensitive skin.
Ryan, You much be joking. It is not a drink that you can take like beer. You can use it in food while cooking. Not just coconut oil but coconut wholly is pretty much helpful for improving health.
